The difference between a union carpenter and a non-union worker is training. That is why the NJ Carpenters Apprentice Training & Education Fund invests in their members. Every Union Carpenter Apprentice is enrolled in a 4-year, college accredited, apprentice program at the onset of their career. Through hands-on training and classroom instruction taught by certified Instructors, this program is unrivaled in the construction industry.

Recognized by the US Department of Labor and Workforce Development, the program takes place in three state-of-art facilities in New Jersey (mouse over the bullets on map on the right). Each carpenter apprentice completes 880 curriculum hours to earn the classification of Journeyman Carpenter. Combined with 8,000 hours of on-the-job-training (OJT), Union Carpenters learn how to increase productivity, reduce liability and create cost efficiencies for all construction projects.

This college accreditation was established through a partnership with NJ Place and the NJ Council of Community Colleges. Now, Union Carpenters have the ability to earn 25 college credits toward an associates degree at any NJ Community College upon graduation of the apprentice program.
